I apoligise for not updating sooner, it has been hectic around here. The hospital run is an hour drive either way. We have all been so exhausted.
Day 53 - 22.1.12
Today our feeds are up to 45ml every three hours. Amelia is cycling between CPAP and PBF, 6 hours on and 6 hours off. She is loving her time off. Having the occasional destat and brady, but doing so either at the end of her time off cpap or right on feed time. Her PBF measurement is sitting around 60mls/minute which is still quite a little bit of oxygen. Her minimum oxygen requirement is around 20mls/minute. Amelia weighs 2310grams today.
Day 54 - 23.1.12
Much the same as yesterday still cycling 6/6. And still getting tired but doing a bit better. Amelia weighs 2340grams :-)
Day 55 - 24.1.12
Same as the day before. Weight went up to 2410 :-) chubby bubby here we come!
Day 56 - 25.1.12
Still on 6 on 6 off. Enjoying time off cpap and not getting as tired :-) Amelia had her two month old immunisations today. :'( my poor baby, it took two nurses to hold her down and a lot of sucrose (its like chocolate - sweet for bubs) Amelia did very well and didn't need much in oxygen requirements, as I was warned previously that she may need more oxygen. But my clever girl handled it very well, apart from the grumps. She weighs in at 2450 grams. And sucked 29ml of her 45ml bottle.
Day 57 - 26.1.12 Australia Day
Amelia is sitting in air at 21 percent on cpap. Still cycling 6/6 and sitting on 20/25ml/min of o2 on pbf. Having the occasional destat around feeds. Amelia had a go at a suck feed and did very well. She sucked 41ml out of her 45 ml bottle. Yay :-) Amelia weighs 2470g today.
Day 58 - 27.1.12
Amelia is getting better with her breathing, the doctors feel very confident to put her on pbf for longer stints. So she does 6 hours on pbf and 3 hours on cpap. She hates the cpap and cries every time the comfeel is put on her nose. She knows what's coming next. The thick tubes up the nose and the bubbling. Amelia has passed the 2.5kg mark :-) weighing 2505 grams,
Day 59 - 28.1.12
Amelia lost weight today. She's down to 2495grams. The doctors are very confident to continue to cycle her today. Amelia is doing a huge 9 hours off cpap (on pbf) and 3 hours on cpap. Mummy had a huge cuddle today and loved it :-) so did Amelia. She was so content.
Day 60 - 29.1.12
And we are back up to 2.5 kilos haha :-) we are weighing in at 2530grams and being really cheek on CPAP. Amelia pulls out her prongs frequently now. Good thing is when the doctors came and done the rounds today, they agreed to stop the cpap cycling and try her full time on pbf. This means all amelia is getting is oxygen pushed up her nose, she is doing all the work herself, keeping her lungs open and breathing by herself. She is so much more alert on pbf. :-) I hope she does well :-)
