Updates & Photos Up to Day 85!

So, a few things have changed since I last logged on :) Amelia is in Nursery 2 West now, which is a stop before she comes home. She is bottle fed on anti reflux formula 90mls every 4 hours :) Amelia has her own little personality now! Shes such a feisty thing! :) Amelia weighs 3270grams - so about the size of a newborn at 3 months old! She fits in between 00000's and 0000's clothes. 

We are just waiting for her bradycardia and desats to stop now before she comes home. Then shes ALL MINE!!! hehe 

We do ask though, when she comes home, to be a little patient with us in regards to visiting. We would like everyone to come over and meet her, but this isnt possible until we are all settled in and coping as a family of 3. Being in the nursery for 3 months has been a bit of a traumatic experience for us, so please respect our privacy for a little longer. 

Also, anyone who is not well, when the time comes, please stay away. Amelia has a weak immune system and has only JUST come off all oxygen support. We like seeing her pretty un-tubed face. If you are sick and pass it on to her, we will end up back in hospital. And thats not what anyone wants.

update up to day 77...

I'm Sooo sorry I haven't had a chance to update.

The main changes that have happened is that Amelia is much more stable. Still having destats and bradys during feeds which is related to reflux. They have put her onto anti reflux formula and medication so hoping they stop completely in the next few days... Home isn't too far away. And we are tube free :) all suck feeds and off oxygen :)

I have my cpr training course on Sunday ... So nervous.

Miss Amelia weighs just over 2.9kgs. She's getting heavier. :)

She's also moved to nursery 2 west. :)

Day 64!

Day 64 - Thursday 2.2.12

After only 64 days we finally got our first bath! hehe

So, PBF wise, we are sitting on 15mls per min (maximum 20mls per minute) 

The PNA was negative for any nasties :) yay! 

Amelia is on 50mls of EBM/Term Formula per 3hourly feed. Which most are now demand feeds as she is showing HEAPS of interest in sucking it all :) She did 2 FULL 50ml bottles today in a row!!!! If she keeps sucking all her feeds then they will take the tube out of her nose :) YAY!

The Doctor chatted to me today and it seems she DOESNT have a stridor audible as yet. So they will keep an ear out. If she does have one its a small one and not affecting her at all stats wise. He also looked for hernias, she has one on her belly button, but that seems to be all really. They cant palpitate the groin hernias now. Hopefully it stays that way and she wont need an op later on down the track or before discharge.

Amelia hasnt been weighed yet, i dont know when they do it in the new nursery. But when I am updated, I will update you all...

The doctor was also confident to stop caffiene today. Caffiene helps to keep the heart rate high so Amelia doesnt Brady and destat frequently. She has only had a small self resolving brady today. Phew... Lets stop them all together miss so you can come home, yes? :)

Day 63!

Day 63 - 1.2.12 Wednesday

Well, today has been eventful.

Little miss Amelia has a snuffly nose. Its not green or anything but there's still a lot of mucus. Yum huh?  They did a PNA and suctioned her nose to get it out and now they are just running the test. They haven't put her in isolation yet so that's a great sign.

We didn't get a demo bath today because she was wanting sucks from her dummy and bottle. :-)  yay great sign. Not so great though fir the reflux she seems to be suffering from. So the plan of attack for tomorrow is getting rid of the calories (so she's on only ebm ) and her feeds have been put up to 50mls everey 3 hours ... she's been demanding it every 2.5 so one hungry little baby :-) she is supposed to have one tube feed to one suck feed but has been demanding more sucks so she must be getting more energy. I just hope she doesn't tire herself out. I have had to stop expressing now, so she will use the rest if my ebm and then go to formula. Might help with the reflux she's currently having too.

Her PBF level sits in between 15 to 25 rarely did it go above that and if it did it was short lived. She is saturating really well on 20 on pbf :-)  so maybe She wants to wean off that :-)  slowly does it miss amelia :-)

The little noise she makes is possibly a thing called stridor. This has probably been caused by being intubated for a little while. I just think its her making little baby noises, but the doctors haven't heard it as yet. But as soon as they do they will be able to figure out what it is. Im so nervous it will be another problem to the list... :'(  poor amelia. She has enough to deal with my little angel.

Now, her hernias in her groin... currently not palpable. :-)  have they dissapeared? I hope so. One less op for her to have. But if they hqvernt I will be fine with that too. At least she will be ok when she comes home. I just want her to be better already. She does have hernia in her belly button, but that may clear up in the years to come.

Gosh, I wish I could take her home with me. I am missing her way too much. I have every once asking when she will be home.

We dont know when, but she will be home. (Hoping end of this month)  cross your fingers please everyone.

And those who keep asking, please understand that every time some one asks - it hurts. So please, just remember I will let you all know when the time is closer. :-)
